Indications and contraindications for AGB

The gastric band system is the treatment of choice for people who:

Are between 15 and 60 years of age
Have been obese for a period of 5 years
Have gone thru multiple attempts to lose weight

Have been diagnosed as class III (BMI of 40 or over) obese
................. or class II (BMI 35 to 39) with the presence of
................ associated diseases such as sleep apnea, diabetes

Doubles ideal weight and (Are twice their ideal weight, and?)
Meet an acceptable surgical risk after a cardiological evaluation

The gastric band system is not recommended in people:

Addicted to alcohol or drugs.
Using multiple medications or
Unwilling to follow the surgeon’s recommendations
Unacceptable surgical risk
